On September 18, Huang Taiyan, Chair of the University Council, led a delegation to visit Singapore. A highlight of the visit was the signing of an agreement to formally establish a ‘Wuhan University-NUS Master of Architecture (Architectural Heritage) Dual Degree Program’ between the School of Urban Design of Wuhan University and the College of Design and Engineering of the National University of Singapore (NUS). NUS Provost Liang Huisi attended and presided over the signing ceremony, while the Associate Dean of the Wuhan University School of Urban Design, Huang Jingnan, and the Chinese Program Director, Associate Professor Zheng Jing, participated in the activities.

According to the universities, the program adopts the 2+1 cultivation mode and implements the curriculum designed by both the Chinese and the foreign partners. Students spend the first two years at Wuhan University and the final year at the National University of Singapore. Upon successful completion of all program elements, students will obtain both the Master of Architecture degree of Wuhan University and the Master of Arts in Architectural Conservation degree of the National University of Singapore.

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is one of the world's leading research universities, with its ‘Architecture and the Built Environment’ specialism ranked first in Asia in the QS International University Rankings. Critical preservation and the regeneration of architectural heritage are currently at the forefront of the architectural discipline. The Master of Arts in Architectural Conservation (MAArC) program at NUS has a mission to explore the renewal of architectural heritage with Asian characteristics, providing students with cutting-edge professional knowledge and practical training from a unique perspective.

The Wuhan University-National University of Singapore Master of Architecture (Architectural Heritage) Program is guided by Professor Ho Puay Peng of the Department of Architecture at the National University of Singapore (NUS), who is the UNESCO Chair in Conservation and Management of Architectural Heritage in Asia, with Associate Professor Zheng Jing of the Department of Architecture at Wuhan University as the Chinese Director of the Program and Professor Johannes Widodo of the Department of Architecture at NUS acting as the Singaporean Director of the Program.

This postgraduate dual-degree program is a major breakthrough in the internationalization of Wuhan University’s School of Urban Design. The program is open for national enrolment from 2023, and outstanding undergraduates are welcome to apply for the program. Interested candidates may visit the following site for more information.
